Tell us more about your photo by sharing a brief artist statement or answering this prompt: "This is what being ______ means to me..."

In searching for family representation that included masculine and butch women, I found only a limited glimpse. That absence led me to create the imagery myself. For 13 years, I’ve documented masculine women and queer communities, capturing the realities that exist beyond expectation. This photograph continues that work, making visible what has always been here.

Describe your photo so we can provide alt-text for future visitors to this website. Example: "Two women holding hands and smiling as they walk in a pride parade, surrounded by rainbow flags and a vibrant crowd celebrating LGBTQ+ pride."

A black and white photo of a butch woman wearing an unbuttoned jacket that displays a pregnant belly. The individual has a small smile, and stands in front of a plain seamless backdrop.
