[Artist Statement] Tell us more about your photo by sharing a brief artist statement OR answering this prompt: "This is what being ______ means to me..." (Max. 100 words)
Two butches, held in a way that feels both ordinary and sacred. The younger wraps their arms around the older from behind, not possessively nor performatively, just closely. Their bodies line up instinctively, like it’s a language they both already know. There’s intimacy here, but no explanation. Whether they are lovers or friends is left open; it’s not important because what matters is the contact, the softness between two butches. It doesn’t define the relationship. It just insists that it matters. It lets closeness exist without spectacle.
[Visual Description] Describe your photo so we can provide alt-text. Example: "Two women holding hands and smiling as they walk in a pride parade, surrounded by rainbow flags."
Two butches embracing, a younger butch draping their arms around an older butch from behind - the image is intimate, but it is unclear as to what the relationship between the two butches is.
