[Artist Statement] Tell us more about your photo by sharing a brief artist statement OR answering this prompt: "This is what being ______ means to me..." (Max. 100 words)

This is what being queer means to me:
being at home with each other. Not the polished version. Not the party version. Just sitting on the steps, shoes still on, mid-laugh and mid-thought. It’s comfort without performance. It’s closeness that doesn’t need explanation. Queerness, for me, exists in these ordinary spaces - where softness is safe and affection is casual. It’s not always spectacle. Sometimes it’s just two people, tired and content, existing together.

[Visual Description] Describe your photo so we can provide alt-text. Example: "Two women holding hands and smiling as they walk in a pride parade, surrounded by rainbow flags."

Two young women sit close together on concrete steps outside a house at night. One wears a sheer white dress with platform flame heels, and the other wears dark jeans, a jacket, glasses and Crocs while smoking a cigarette. They lean toward each other, mid-conversation, lit by a direct flash against a white brick wall.

[Agreement] In the event that you win the 2026 Curve Photo Contest, do you consent to having your photograph printed for the sole purpose of displaying at The Curve Foundation's one-day event at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco, CA) during Lesbian Visibility Week? The Curve Foundation will cover printing costs, but will not cover costs for mailing the print after the event ends.
