- Smiles Meyer (They/Them) is a trans film photographer located in Los Angeles, CA. Their work emerges from the dissonance of their Trans identity in relation to their conservative, Catholic upbringing. Radical trans self expression, visual activism, and communal unification rests at the backbone of Meyer’s creative prerogative and they often indulge in provocation as their preferred medium. Through their provocative, queer, unapologetic, and deeply personal compositions, Meyer locates photography as a conduit for connection. See all items with this value

The First Communion (2024) A recreation of the famous image The Last Supper
with queer and trans models. The image depicts 12 queer and trans models acting as disciples with one trans model at the center of the table representing Jesus. The photo acts as a visual demand for radical queer inclusion and community despite the ostracization and persecution by the Catholic church. Highlighting the Queer community’s ability to overcome and come together.
Photos captured on Medium format film at the Los Angeles River.
